March - The Lord Of the Rings

The Fellowship of the Ring

J. R. R. Tolkien

“Books ought to have good endings. How would this do: and they all settled down and lived together happily ever after?”

“I was gutted I missed the Hobbit Dinner!”

You’re all in luck because Mum and I absolutely love a cosy, jovial feast with laughter and bringing strangers together, so we didn’t think twice about continuing with J. R. R. Tolkien’s literary gems. We of course began with The Fellowship of the Ring, and keep an eye out for our next cosy Lord of the Rings dinner in future if you missed out on this one!

Take a peak at what how this Cooking the Books dinner went!

“For we put the thought of all that we love into all that we make.”

Our wonderful host Mike, helped devise activities and quizzes to accompany the supper to truly help our guests get into the spirit of the novel, including the challenge to draw and label a detailed diagram of a hobbit…with prizes at the end!

Our next Cooking the Books evening will be the 19th of June and will be celebrating Pride Month! We will be reading and eating from the 1980s classic: Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café. It will be hosted by our beloved Asha, who used to work with us many Moons ago and also hosts their own book club!
